Voice and Speech for Teens (Master Acting Class)

Winter 2002

As unique as individual personality, the voice is one of our chief means of connecting with the outside world by expressing a wide array of emotion, mood and subtlety of thought.  However, for young adults the efficiency of the natural voice is often diminished through tensions, defenses and inhibitions.  Appropriate and beneficial for both performers and non-performers, this class seeks to free, strengthen and develop the voice through a series of exercises--first aimed at solely the human instrument, then the human actor's instrument.  Topics will include support, resonance, flexibility and articulation.  Getting inside words to release their energy and excitement for an audience will be emphasized.
